I've ordered a GP2X -
I'm sure everyone's either played with or at least seen the PSP from sony. I was thinking about getting one the other day when I stumbled across the GP2X from gamepark holdings in Korea. Basically it's a handheld device running linux which can play games, movies, music and display images, and best of all, it's open-source! Yes, that's right, the company actually encourages people to hack this device. There is a strong community of developers supporting the GP2X and you can see why; with 2 200Mhz processors and expandable storage and TV out, it's a lot of kit for US$190.

So today, I've ordered mine. I can't wait to have movies and tv episodes wherever I am, to be able to play games on the MAME, NES, SNES and other emulators for it. I was also excited to read that the scummvm emulator has been ported to it meaning oldschool games like Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Monkey Island and others are on the agenda.
Yes, there are no commercial games manufacturers developing for it at the moment, but in time who knows? One thing's for sure and that's that there are a lot of people actively working on software for it and it's showing no signs of slowing.
Check back here for updates once I've got it and played with it a bit.
